Musical
tastes
I have wide ranging Musical
tastes from the
wonderful songs of Gershwin and Kern, through to the Church Music of
Tudor England.
My Own Music, though, not really breaking any new ground, has evolved a
style that is appealing and accessible to performer and listener alike.
Whilst this is probably never going to mark me out as a 'great'
composer it does mean that I have been fortunate to build up a steady
stream of performances both in the UK and suddenly, this year,
overseas, by both professional and amateur musicians.
I have been told that my music is very 'English' and that's fine by me!
- I have also been told many times by performers that they have found
my music useful and well written - and that's what it's all about. The
vast majority of Music Making in the UK is done by amateurs and
providing music for them that is appealing, useful and sometimes
challenging is important to me.
